The Raizal Youth Organization stands as a symbol of empowerment, fighting for the rights and self-determination of the Raizal people in the San Andrés Archipelago. This ethnic-based organization shares the Raizal values to transform perspectives, both between and beyond the archipelago, and amplifies the voices of the youth, addressing the myriad challenges stemming from land loss, shifts in traditional lifeways, and intergenerational gaps. These obstacles pose significant barriers to the protection of their culture and ancestral territory. Through their engagement in public policy drafting and grassroots initiatives, the organization focuses on key areas such as agriculture, fisheries, island ecosystems, food sovereignty, and equitable access to land and water resources. By advocating for democratic governance and sustainable practices, they strive to safeguard the future of Raizal heritage and ensure a thriving community for generations to come.
