Belize signed the Escazú Agreement in February 2023, aiming for public participation in environmental decision-making and access to justice. However, when an upcoming stakeholder meeting on the agreement raised concerns about a lack of public education and invitations, the UBAD Educational Foundation (UEF) a grassroots Belizean organization championing the principles of knowledge and self-determination demanded accountability.
